The Narration of Desire: Erotic Transferences and Countertransferences Print
Friday, April 01 2011, 1:00pm - 5:15pm

Monterey Bay Psychological Aasociation presents*
A Half Day Workshop Friday, April 1 from 1-5:15 PM

With Training and Supervising Psychoanalyst and Buddhist Mindfulness Practitioner

Harriet Kimble Wrye, Ph.D. ABPP, FIPA

This workshop will offer keys to unlock our patients' unspoken earliest sensual experience, freeing it to become transformational.  Harriet Wrye will introduce concepts and clinical applications developed and illustrated in her book The Narration of Desire (Co-written with Judith Welles and published by the Analytic Press.  Available on uwww.amazon.com)  In over 25 published articles in the field, Dr. Wrye has taken up the meanings and therapeutic uses of pre-verbal erotic or sensual experience as it manifests for both male and female therapists.  This workshop will include theory and case material to illustrate how therapists can become attuned to these early transferences in their patients and countertransferences in themselves and use them to transformative advantage for their patients.  In addition to a psychoanalytic lens, She will also offer ways in which mindfulness practice can be engaged to recreate the “mind-womb” of safety, interconnectedness and well-being without which psyches can so easily be derailed.
